Named after Amboseli National Park’s Acacia Tortilis woodlands, Tortilis Camp has earned a reputation for unrivaled charm and attention to detail. Designed with a blend of rustic charm and modern amenities its views of the sunsets over Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru are legendary. Small and elegant, Tortilis Camp is situated on the side of Llimbarishi Hill, which has incredible views across the grassy plains to the highest peak in Africa. The camp is also very aware of its carbon footprint and does what it can to minimise the effect it has on the surrounding environment.

Tortilis Camp is made up of 17 spacious tents that are beautifully designed. Each has king or twin beds, walk in dressing area and its own modern en suite bathroom with pressurised hot showers and flushing toilets. The tents are raised and each has its own private veranda that looks out over the breath taking surrounds.

Guest areas include a main lounge, bar and dining area as well as a beautiful, crystal swimming pool in which to cool off and enjoy a cocktail in between game drives. Tortilis Camp is also child friendly and has a variety of options for entertaining the littlest of guests.

Guests at Tortilis Camp have access to both the Amboseli National Park and the Kitirua private conservancy, which is 30 000 acres that adjoin the park. There is a large variety of animal, bird and plant life within the Amboseli area that congregate around the emerald green swamps that are fed by the springs in the park. These swamps also provide food for the grazing animals, such as the buffalo and various buck, as well as the huge herds of elephant that roam the area.

Tortilis’s trained and passionate staff are always on hand to share stories and impart their wisdom on various animals, the flora and fauna, bush medicine and folklore. They are also passionate about conserving the area and encourage guests to take an interest the environment. Amboseli is also home to the Maasai people who are happy to open their village to interested visitors.
