The newly-refurbished Bateleur Camp, on a private concession within the game-rich Masai Mara, is found right below the spot where the final scenes of ‘Out of Africa’ were shot. Here you can catch all the action of the Great Migration on spot-lit night drives, daily game drives and hot air ballooning safaris. Other activities include cultural interactions with the local Maasai and pop-ups in the form of bonfires or cocktails out in the bush are a regular feature of a stay at Bateleur.
The camp exudes a classic Kenyan safari vibe with two camps of nine large traditional safari tents with lavish décor and a romantic ambience. The new en-suite bathrooms feature a stone courtyard with outdoor rain showers and copper bathtubs with a view. Sunken daybeds and extra-large patios allow for comfortable game viewing over the plains, although superb views are possible from anywhere within the tents. Two of the suites are reserved for families.
The guest areas are equally plush with vintage finishes, a lap pool, gin bar, complimentary laundry, butler service, safari shop selling luxury goods, Wi-Fi, a massage sala and a full gym.
Evening meals served around the fire under the stars and sundowners overlooking the Rift Valley are a treat. A dining deck overlooking the plains completes the picture.
Some commonly sighted game species include elephants, giraffe, wildebeest, lion, leopard, buffalo and a host of other plains animals. Opportunities for birding and photography are endless and rewarding.
AndBeyond is committed to sustainable tourism and a portion of the profits from Bateleur are used for the direct benefit of local communities.
