As one of the oldest camps in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, the exclusive Londolozi Varty Camp has been operating for more than 90 years. Every night a fire is lit in the same place, signifying a unity of generations. Known for its leopard sightings, Varty Camp is an ideal holiday destination. At Varty Camp game drives are the number one pastime. Waking up to fresh coffee, heading out in the crisp dawn air with professional guides and trackers, witnessing the spectacular bushveld sunrise and spotting some of the most magnificent wild animals, including the Big Five, is the perfect way to start the day.
After returning from a morning game drive, a hearty breakfast awaits. The rest of the day can be spent myriad ways. Lazing on the private deck of your suite and cooling off in your pool while overlooking the Sand River and spotting yet more wildlife. A blissful massage at the spa will melt away the stresses of city life, or kicking back and reading a book to the tune of birdsong will suffice. Kids are welcome at Varty Camp too and are entertained on a daily basis with the Londolozi Cub’s Programme. Tea is served late afternoon before the evening game drive where the magic of the bush is yet again ingrained into your soul.
Nestled peacefully under a string of majestic trees, the eight luxurious chalets and four beautiful suites are tastefully decorated in typical African safari style. Each boasts its own private pool and deck, a glorious four-poster bed and the best part, a huge bathtub overlooking the magical view of the bush. Two suites also boast private open pavilions.
One of the unique attractions about Varty Camp are the four original dwellings of the Sparta Hunting Camp which have been lovingly preserved and now house a museum, an impressive wine cellar and an Internet room. Varty Camp also includes a library and a massage parlour.
The main viewing deck of the camp, wrapped around an old Ebony Tree, is the perfect place for communal sundowners and general relaxing.
