Tanda Tula is one of the most exquisite safari camps in the Timbavati. Big 5 game viewing, mouth-watering cuisine and sumptuous lodgings combine to create the ultimate wildlife appreciation experience. The newly re-designed luxury suites are a study in eco-sensitivity and cutting edge design. The colours, fabric prints and furnishings are influenced by the trees, leaves, seed pods, plants of the surrounding vegetation as well as local culture.
The original camp was a classic traditional tented camp. The new camp is a complete transformation! The sense of place and Tanda Tula’s long history has been sensitively and cleverly retained. The new look is modern, glass, low slung and open so that the surrounding bush feels part of the design. The spacious suites are out of wood and glass that have been canvas clad in a modern way that pays homage to the original tented camp. Beautifully designed bathroom with bath and indoor and outdoor rain showers.
Each suite has an immaculate rim flow plunge pool that is just waiting for you to enjoy after game drive in the heat of the day. The latest remote control technology operates the screens, blinds and aircon. There’s a butler hatch where Kombucha and rusks are delivered with wake up call. There’s a very tempting full mini bar with state of art coffee machine.
The woven bird’s nest-style hide which looks over the waterhole and the new communal dinner ‘boma’ are very cool features.
Mornings begin with the calls of hundreds of bird species, as the warm African sun rises, making the sky explode into colour. Enjoy a rich coffee on your private deck before the first game drive which sets off early to catch all the day creatures as they forage and feed. (A maximum of only 6 guests per safari vehicle makes for better game viewing) Experienced and knowledgeable guides will seek out lions, leopard, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and rhino before returning to the lodge for a breakfast in the bush site that would delight a king.
Enjoy relaxing around the sparkling infinity pool while temperatures rise, and watch wildlife coming to the watering hole from the comfort of a sun chair. Lunch can be enjoyed on the deck at the lodge, before the evening game drive heads off into the wilderness. Guests are afforded exciting opportunities to few big cats at night, including the rare white lion, which can be viewed in its natural habitat. As part of the Kruger National Park, Tanda Tula is located amongst 20,000 hectares of bushveld where there are no fences preventing the free roaming of wildlife between the two reser
Tanda also has a Field Camp hosted by a private guide, tracker and camp team. Tanda Tula Field Camp is an exclusive-use (max 8 guests), non-permanent explorer style camp within a 16 000 acre private concession in the Timbavati Reserve.
