Hidden amongst the trees and rocks of a koppie in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, the magical Ulusaba Rock Lodge at Sir Richard Branson’s Ulusaba Private Game Reserve boasts a truly unique setting and unspoilt views of the African lowveld. Twenty-one rooms are split between two lodges: the Rock Lodge and the Safari Lodge. With each spacious room offering a different view, the Rock Lodge – affectionately called “Heaven in heaven” – offers a birds-eye view of the wild bushveld. Rooms stand high above the African plains, allowing guests to enjoy the peace and rejuvenating tranquillity of the African landscape.
Secluded and uniquely located with distant views over the Drakensberg Mountain Range, the ten luxury rooms and suites of Rock Lodge are furnished with attention to detail, combining modern comfort with traditional African warmth. Light and airy, they draw the sounds and sights of nature inside. The private plunge pools at the Master and Makwela Suites provide a reclusive spot for contemplation and for those who wish to leave the troubles of the world behind, a relaxing spa with views over the bushveld awaits.
Able to accommodate 5 adults and 4 children, the two luxury suites at Cliff Lodge can be found a short distance from Rock Lodge’s main house, and are perfect for those travelling as a family. With one lodge having a swimming pool and the other a Jacuzzi, both overlooking the lush African bush, guests can be assured of relaxing in privacy. Arguably, one of the main attractions of hiring the whole Cliff Lodge is that it comes with own private chef as well as a private vehicle for game drives.
Known for their extensive knowledge and easy way of relating to people and game, rangers are passionate about revealing the magic of African wildlife to guests. True to the wonders of the region, guests will almost certainly spot the Big Five as well as zebra, giraffe, and a myriad of other game and birdlife.
To top off all that luxury, birdlife and game spotting, the dining experience has been hailed as “exceptional” and the service “impeccable”.
