Happy New Year to you and apologies for the delay in the feedback – Christmas and family got in the way!

Needless to say, we had an absolutely fantastic trip. All the advice, planning and preparation paid off handsomely and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip of a lifetime.

The itinerary worked really, really well for us. Two nights in each camp was exactly right to cover all the activities at a comfortable pace and give a nice mix of travel days and full days. We were particularly pleased that all the camps worked hard to fit in activities around the travel schedule so that every day was as full as we wanted. All transfers worked really well, though the border crossing into Zimbabwe took much longer than expected as we were unlucky enough to turn up behind several trucks full of young backpackers. As a private pilot myself, I really enjoyed the Safari Air hops between the camps!

The accommodation and catering was excellent throughout and the staff at Chobe Game Lodge enjoyed making a fuss of us for our 30^th wedding anniversary with a welcoming bottle of pop and surprise cake at dinner! The Elephant Camp experience was lovely and the private plunge pool a real treat. Great to have this more restful stay at the end of the trip and also to be located just outside Vic Falls town. It was an interesting time to be in Zimbabwe and the locals are certainly all hoping for better times ahead now.

We can’t praise the Guides highly enough. They were all extremely professional, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable on all aspects of the game, environment, geography, history etc. and great fun to be with. You could tell they really enjoyed their work, were genuinely interested in the guests and worked hard to give us the best experience. Similarly all the camp staff were very friendly and looked after us extremely well. Just wish we had more time and energy to enjoy the late nights around the camp fire!

The timing worked out well for us. Dry season ending and wet season starting. Easy game viewing without too much leaf cover and plenty of young animals around. The leopard and lion sightings were just amazing and we won’t ever forget the elephant charge whilst out on walking safari!

Chobe National Park, in the northeast of Botswana, is the country’s second largest national park and is blessed with one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. The 6 standard tents accommodate 2 guests, while two family tents are set up for 2 adults and 2 children. Each tent is eco-friendly, reflecting its surroundings with tasteful East-African furnishings and décor.
