Representing a new era in luxury safari lodges, Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge in Sabi Sand Game Reserve is sculpted into the earth, and is almost invisible in the landscape. Inspired by the nature around it, the lodge incorporates light, shapes, colours and space into its harmonious design. Upon arrival at the lodge you are welcomed into a hidden corridor, which leads to the entrance of the lodge and opens up onto the spectacular panorama of uninterrupted bushveld. While care was taken not to impact on the environment construction, no expense has been spared with regards to luxury and comfort.

Everything at Earth Lodge is in harmony with the earth around it and there is a pervading sense of calm and rejuvenation. The 13 ultra-luxurious suites each boast its own individual design, with timber decking, a private plunge pool, en-suite glass fronted bathroom and indoor and outdoor showers. Each suite also has its own private butler on hand to see that guests’ every requirement is met. The grand Amber Presidential Suite is the crowning glory of the lodge, with a magnificent carved wooden headboard and enormous egg-shaped bath, along with its own steam room, study and kitchen.

Guest areas include the outdoor boma, with its dramatic tree root walls where guests can enjoy mouth-watering meals under the African stars. An indoor/outdoor dining area over looks the nearby watering hole and there is also a secluded library, meditation garden and underground wine cellar with a collection of over 6 000 bottles of rare wines.

Morning and evening game drives will take you deep into the wilderness in search of the Big Five that roam the area, along with a variety of other plant, bird and animal life. Safari trips can be taken in specially designed 4×4 vehicles, or on foot, accompanied by an armed and experienced tracker who will point out some of the smaller, more intimate aspects of the habitats in this area.
