Situated in a private concession, in the most northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, Vumbura Plains Camp is known for its wildlife diversity, privacy and Okavango exclusivity. This luxury camp lies in an area that comprises a wide range of habitats, from wetland to mopane forests and arid acacia woodlands, which brings with it a diverse wildlife and birdlife. The camp comprises of two entirely separate seven-roomed satellite camps, each built under the shade of indigenous trees with its own raised lounge, dining and bar area with walkways for easy access to the main guest areas.

Each large and comfortable suite is furnished in contemporary design incorporating elements of light wood and space to emphasis the magnificent views across the Okavango’s floodplains. The rooms are raised off the ground on wooden decks and comprise of a large bedroom, lounge, plunge pool, private deck and ‘sala’ (a comfortable area to relax in) as well as a full en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower.

What makes Vumbura Plains Camp so unique is the privacy of its extreme northern position in the Okavango which brings with it a wide variety of animals and habitats, and just about every animal of the Okavango Delta that you can think of.

Vumbura Plains Camp offers guests both land and water activities which include open 4×4 vehicles, mokoro trips (traditional canoes), boat excursions or nature walks. Open Land Rovers allow guests the opportunity of seeing animals close-up such as leopard, lion, cheetah, elephant and buffalo, as well as all the other plains game. The Vumbura area is perhaps also the only area in the Okavango where guests can spot Red Lechwe (an animal that inhabits the outskirts of the waterways) and Sable antelope (an animal which prefers the dry countryside) on the same game drive. The birdlife in this part of the Okavango is incredible, and the variety and sheer numbers of birds are truly astounding.

There are two family tents at Vumbura North each accommodating four guests comprising two bedrooms each with own bathroom facilities. The main adult room has a large sunken lounge and spacious showers whilst the second child’s room is smaller and has standard facilities.
