Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa

With its spectacular setting on the slopes of the dramatic Twelve Apostles Mountains and wide views over the Atlantic Ocean, The Twelve Apostles is one of Cape Town’s best known luxury hotels. The peace and natural beauty of this idyllic spot is just minutes from Camps Bay and 15 minutes from central Cape Town making it the perfect indulgent retreat for those who prefer to escape the city bustle after a day of sightseeing or business. Add to that its award-winning cuisine, exceptional service, holistic spa, swimming pools and fynbos gardens and you have a recipe for heavenly relaxation and comfort.

The 70 luxury rooms and suites are laid out in four separate wings along the mountain-side, some with sea-facing views and balconies or patios, others looking out over the fynbos and mountains. Beautifully decorated with understated elegance and rich fabrics in subtle shades, each is individually designed with comfortable sitting areas and a wide range of extra touches, from fresh fruit and mineral water to the luscious, natural B Africa amenities in the en-suite bathrooms.

Azure is one of Cape-Town’s top fine-dining restaurants run by Executive chef Christo Pretorious serving Cape cuisine with a modern approach, and sumptuous beautifully plated meals live up to the awe-inspiring views over the ocean from its windows. For a more informal menu the Cafe Grill with its garden courtyard is open 24 hours, or chill out in the Conservatory and gaze at the mountain crags with a cocktail from the Leopard Bar or a lavish afternoon tea.

The holistic spa has a comprehensive menu of treatments including a Rasul chamber and a salt water flotation pool, but the mountain gazebo open air treatment rooms secluded among the fynbos are an experience not to be missed. Relax by the infinity pool or in the mountain rock pool, wander the fynbos garden paths, or hike up the mountain with a beautifully packed picnic to enjoy even more spectacular views.

Finish off the day with a movie and ice-cream at the private cinema, but don’t miss the dramatic sunsets to be enjoyed from this most elegant of Cape Town hotels.
