Swakopmund
Swakopmund is the second biggest town and the premier holiday resort in Namibia. During the summer holidays and long weekends Namibians flock to the cool coast for relief from the heat of the interior. The fun holiday atmosphere is tangible.
Swakopmund is very charming and resembles a small Bavarian village nestling between the desert and the sea. It has a restful and relaxing atmosphere with promenades, palm trees and beautifully tended gardens. The attraction of the town lies in the fact that one can enjoy the wild beauty of the desert and the sea and yet be within easy reach of the comfort of Swakopmund's hotels.
When traveling between Sossusvlei and Etosha it is necessary to spend a night in Swakopmund at one of the many cosy hotels and guest houses. This provides a nice break in the scenery of your trip.

Shark or deep sea fishing will appeal to the keen angler while the more sedentary visitor will enjoy dolphin cruises and the many cafés and restaurants.
