Watch Savuti’s famous elephants from the comfort of your own luxurious tent. As the name suggests, Belmond Savute Elephant Camp is known for its large herds of elephant and its fantastic all year round game viewing. Sitting comfortably among towering acacia trees, the camp is situated in the southern Chobe National Park of Botswana and overlooks a beautiful, bustling watering hole. Focused entirely on the view, the tents are housed on raised wooden viewing decks, with sliding glass doors that ensure you are always able to observe what is happening in the nature around you, whether you are outside or in.
The 12 luxury tents all have en-suite facilities, bath and shower as well as and outside shower. Other amenities include an electric heater, overhead fan and mosquito net.
The large private viewing decks are furnished with comfortable easy chairs, as well as a hammock, from which guests can lie back and admire the beautiful grassy plain. Romantic dinners can also be served on these decks, ensuring complete privacy under a starlit African sky.
Meals are served in the raised restaurant, and there are also delicious picnic lunches available that the chefs are always on hand to prepare. Cocktails and a fully stocked bar are available and in the evenings guests can sit around the campfire and be entertained by musicians performing traditional music and dance.
Early morning game drives will take you right into the great herds of elephants, said to be Africa’s largest. There are also leopards and lions on the prowl too as well as the endangered wild dog, klipspringers and the roan antelope.
Evening drives into the bush are atmospheric and exciting. As the legendary African sunsets guide you through the growing shadows, wildlife emerges from siesta, bringing the bush alive with activity. All game viewing is done in specially designed game vehicles that seat six guests
Keen birders are also in for a treat, with land birds such as bustards and secretary birds as well as more aquatic species.
Savute Elephant Camp is one of the most luxurious in northern Botswana and well worth the visit.
