Little Ruckomechi occupies a scenic spot in a private concession alongside Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park. Guests at this intimate tented camp have access to a host of activities within the concession. These include game drives, walking safaris, sundowner cruises, catch-and-release-fishing, night drives, boat safaris and canoeing, and birdwatching, all under the auspices of an excellent Zimbabwean guide. A highlight of any stay at Little Ruckomechi is the constant presence of elephants near the camp.

Little Ruckomechi offers four airy and elegant tents built on wooden decks alongside the Zambezi River. Each one has a private deck which offers outstanding game viewing opportunities. Unless the camp is booked out for exclusive use, only three tents are booked at a time. While there’s no shortage of plush finishes and luxury conveniences, the accommodation has an overall old-world colonial feel which is echoed in the shared living spaces.

Communal areas include a plunge pool and an open sided dining tent, lounge, bar and small library, all raised on wooden decks. A firepit takes pride of place closest to the river. You can see the river no matter where you choose to relax in this camp.

The Ruckomechi Concession has a high concentration of game and guests enjoy outstanding wildlife viewing both from camp and out in the field. Lions, buffalo, elephant and hippo are common sightings and impala, zebra, and warthogs are abundant. Birdlife is prolific, with Meve’s starlings, Bohm’s spinetails, three-banded coursers, Arnot’s chats, green-capped eremomelas and western banded snake eagles in attendance.
