As one of the few luxury camps to accept children of all ages, Londolozi Founders Camp is a classic safari camp that provides the perfect location for a sophisticated and wonderfully memorable family holiday. Located on a family-owned concession within Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy. As a premier Big Five game viewing area, guests are guaranteed breath taking sightings and photographic opportunities of the bird, plant and animal life, and the normally elusive leopard, which is one of the areas specialities. Enchanting, intimate and child-friendly, Founders Camp is ideally situated to give guests a look at the secrets of river life.

Londolozi means “Protector of all living things” and the camp has its roots back in 1926. Each of the seven luxurious chalets are secluded and surrounded by dense riverine forest over looking the river. Furnished in earthen tones and traditional African styling, the air-conditioned chalets are built along the river bed, nestled in the shade of the old trees. Each en-suite chalet has a spacious bathroom with outdoor shower, private deck with a plunge pool, all with amazing views of the river.

Guests can enjoy dawn and late afternoon guided game drives with an expert ranger and tracker. Upon returning to the camp, relax at the wellness centre and enjoy a massage, specialised spa treatments or outdoor yoga classes. Guided bush walks can be taken after breakfast, where you get to experience some of the smaller aspects of this multi-faceted range of habitats. Fishing enthusiasts are also invited to do a spot of fishing on the Sand River.

Children get to experience a wide range of activities. Kids under six are not able to go on game drives, but will find plenty to keep them entertained at the Londolozi Cub Clubs, where they learn about the surrounding area and wildlife through spoor ID, bird watching and African dance.

There are also loads of other activities, including baking, arts and crafts and painting. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 can take Future Ranger Courses, which include mammal behaviours and bird identification.
