The ideal choice for couples or families looking for an authentic, yet luxurious safari experience, Singita Mara River is set on the banks of the Mara River, and the camp offers four en suite tents for couples, and two family tents (each sleeping two adults and two children). The tents are stylishly furnished in East African style with elegant fabrics, and each unit also features art by local African craftsmen and designers. Spacious decks outside the tents provide the perfect spot to watch the activity in the Mara River, which is home to crocodiles and hippos all year round.
Committed to environmental sustainability, the camp runs solely on solar power. Recycled and natural materials are also used whenever possible. Facilities include international plug sockets in all the tents, as well as cordless hair dryers and complimentary WiFi in the lounge area. Additional thoughtful extras in the tents range from everything from lip balm to insect repellent, and a daily free laundry service is also provided – much needed in the bush amid all the outdoor activities!
Singita Mara River welcomes children aged 12 and older, and offers a wide range of activities for them, including spa face painting, baking with the chefs, the opportunity to complete a mini rangers course (and receive a certificate on completion) and butterfly capture, identification and release activities. A splash pool at the camp also provides the ideal way to cool down in the middle of the day.
Daily game drives offer guests the opportunity to view a range of big cats, plains game, elephants, as well as the hippos and crocodiles of the Mara River. During the migration season, the camp is perfectly situated to view the river crossings of the migratory herds. In the case of rain, ponchos are provided for game drives.
The Singita Mara River Camp is located in an area where both malaria and yellow fever are present. Guests are therefore requested to take the necessary prophylactics and receive a yellow fever inoculation before visiting Tanzania. The closest airstrip to the camp is Serengeti Lamai, located a 30-minute drive away.
