The Zambezi Queen is a 45 meter long 5 star houseboat featuring 14 luxury cabins complete with an entertainment deck and a dining room with uninterrupted views  of the surrounding riverine wilderness. It offers visitors the newest and most luxurious houseboat experience currently available on the Chobe River. The Zambezi Queen can be seen gliding quietly down the Chobe River between Botswana’s Chobe National Park and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip.

Home to the largest population of elephants in the world, both sides of the river offer visitors an abundance of wildlife. For a unique experience that is completely different from the traditional  Landrover safari, look no further than the Zambezi Queen. From the comfort of your private suite and from a vantage point where the animals don’t feel threatened, you will be able to spot buffalo, giraffe, lion, eland, sable, waterbuck, leopard and even the rare puku. In the river below you will be able to view many of Africa’s beautiful birds, as well as crocodiles and hippos.

The 14 luxury cabins all situated on the first and second level of the houseboat, are tastefully furnished, each with their own private balcony. There are also 4 larger master suites on offer, some with their own outdoor area. Each one of the private suites has been designed with the harsh African summer in mind and features clever use of shutters, is positioned on the outer rim of the deck, and has ceiling fans that ensure a cooling breeze even in soaring temperatures. The entire boat, including the top deck and dining and living areas, have been fitted with mosquito screening.

The ‘entertainment deck’ which is located on the top deck, consists of the lounge including a wood burning fireplace, the dining room, bar and a private pool complete with a sunbathing area. There is also a library with books and games and a telescope for those guests who like to study the stars at night.

Activities that are on offer include water-based wild and birdlife viewing on smaller boats; bream and tiger fishing in season; and land-based half day game viewing in 4×4 vehicles for a truly Botswana Safari experience through the  Chobe National Park, as well as the opportunity of a cultural tour through the local village. For those guests who prefer aerial game viewing or who would like an airborne transfer shuttle to the Okavango Delta or Victoria Falls, a light aircraft situated near base camp can be booked at an additional cost. Regretfully the minimum age for children to come aboard the Zambezi Queen is 8 years.

The Zambezi Queen is perfect for anyone wanting to experience the thrill of Africa right from their private suite aboard a floating boutique hotel.
