If you would like to be seduced by the charm of a private bush camp in the African wild then look no further than Bilimungwe Bushcamp! Here you will find that authentic African ambience that combines well with elegant accommodation and natural beauty. The camp is located in a remote area in the South Luangwa National Park where it sits quietly in a riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River. It is a nature-lover’s dream location, and the exceptional knowledge of the award winning resident guide will provide rare opportunities to get close to game and birds!
The camp’s rustic dining area with a well-stocked bar is built on a large wooden viewing deck with breathtaking views over the watering hole and abundant game below. The deck is shaded by a giant mahogany tree and provides the ideal place for a relaxing drink while taking in the spectacle at the watering hole during the day and after dark. The dining area is thatched for shaded comfort during game viewing and relaxation on hot days.
Accommodation for up to eight guests is comprised of four large and comfortable chalets constructed from thatch and reeds, and are often visited by small game and birdlife. Each unit was designed with authenticity and comfort in mind and contains two large and comfortable double beds complete with mosquito nets and high quality linen.
Chalets also come equipped with an open air waterfall shower for that real out-in-the-open experience. The interiors contain beautiful handmade furniture created by local craftsman from rich wood and other natural materials from the area, and the soft furnishings and fabrics reflect African tradition in colour and style.
At Bilimungwe you can delight in night and day game drives with an expert and enthusiastic guide and also experience some spectacular game viewing from the viewing deck. Improve your photography techniques during a guided walking safari or partake in some serious bird watching with knowledgeable guides.
If you crave the privacy and tranquillity that a bush camp offers, then Bilimungwe Bushcamp will certainly offer this and so much more.

Bilimungwe’s four raised thatched rooms have been carefully designed to ensure the height of comfort whilst still retaining that authentic bushcamp feel, each with magnificent views of one or two of the three watering holes. The tangle of mature mahogany trees that surround camp are echoed in the rich, wood interiors and the beautiful wooden furniture, handmade by local artisans. Bright African textiles bring splashes of colour to the elegant rooms. After an early morning game drive, head back to your room for a refreshing, open-air waterfall shower, or continue the wildlife spectacle from your private deck. Two of the chalets have twin beds (queen-sized beds) and two have doubles (king-sized bed).
The lounge and dining area is built on stilts around a large, old termite mound, under an ancient mahogany tree which provides ample shade from the hot sunshine. Bilimungwe has a secret breakfast spot on the edge of Luangwa Valley, perfect to watch the sun rise over the Chindeni hills. Bilimungwe sleeps up to eight guests and is open from May to December.
