Right in the heart of the Okavango Delta lies the enchanting Camp Okavango. Recently rebuilt and now situated on the edge of Nxaragha Island, this camp offers travellers an authentic Botswana Safari experience in one of the most pristine wildlife destinations in the world.
Camp Okavango provides accommodation for just twenty four guests in traditional African-styled safari tents raised off the ground on teak platforms, each one complete with their own private deck and en-suite facilities. There is a lovely new family suite with two separate bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms with inter-leading doors for easy access between the rooms.
The main lodge at Camp Okavango is also thatched and includes a lounge area, cocktail bar, a library filled with extensive wildlife reference books, and a dining room which leads onto a generous open-air deck with magnificent views over the Delta, perfect for brunches or afternoon teas. The Camp has a secluded bird hide from where a diverse number of birdlife can be seen. Guests can also make use of a sundeck with a plunge pool for cooling off in the heat of the day.
The newly renovated Camp Okavango has been built using a variety of modern, non-invasive, building techniques. Along with the eco-friendly design of the lodge, it is now run entirely on renewable solar energy.
At Camp Okavango, there are a range of water based game-viewing activities on offer. Accompanied by skilled guides, guests are expertly steered through the many waterways of the Okavango Delta in a traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe) or can choose to view the wildlife from the comfort of a motorized boat. For those guests who would prefer to track larger game by foot guided walking tours on the Camps many surrounding islands are on offer.
This Botswana Safari destination has something for everyone. The birdlife is prolific, and keen fishermen can go tigerfish and bream fishing activities. This is authentic Africa at its best, and Camp Okavango ensures its visitors a year-round water wildlife experience of a lifetime.
