Asilia has long-standing roots in the original family-run safari companies of East Africa, such as Ker and Downey, which originated in 1946, Rekero Camp in 1986 and Olivers Camp in 1992. Asilia’s founding pioneers were passionate and committed to East Africa. Asilia is Swahili for ‘genuine’ or ‘authentic’ and they are dedicated to preserving the authentic, family-run East African safari experience as well as making sure their operations are sustainable and make a lasting positive impact. Today Asilia employs more than 900 people with a footprint of 23 camps and lodges in Kenya and Tanzania.
