Honeymoon clients from the US were finally able to go on their safari adventure in June!  We’re thrilled that they returned home happy and relaxed with the feel of Africa under their skin, incredible memories, wild stories and of course photos to show their friends.

Here’s their feedback…

&Beyond Tengile River Lodge was ABOVE & BEYOND (lol) our expectations!  The most luxurious hotel experience we’ve ever had, from the incredible and expansive rooms with the plunge pools to the hospitality which was 5-stars, bar none.  We definitely need to give credit to the staff, especially to our Ranger, Dylan Royal, who was an expert in all ways, as an extremely knowledgeable safari guide and as a hospitality pro.  The way he’d pivot from tracking lion prides to shaking up cocktails on a scenic overlook was pretty outstanding.

The safari game drives themselves also blew us away.  Constant action and Big 5 viewing in Sabi Sands!

We also loved the nice downtime in our beautiful lodge and the stunning hotel bar where all the guests would gather in the evening before dinner – we made some friends there! We’ll recommend this to anyone and everyone who asks.

We really loved Botswana as well and enjoyed how different the landscape and ecology is from Sabi Sands!  It felt like a very different safari especially with the addition of the motor boat rides and mokoro canoes in the Delta.

Also, it was very cool and a little more adventurous to be in a tent (of course it was a luxury tent!), where you could hear the animals outside through the night, no cell reception, etc. Definitely more rugged! It’s really cold there in the mornings and at night, and you feel that much more staying in a tent, so that took some getting used to and we needed to really bundle up.  On the game drives, you don’t get quite as much action in the Delta, at least in our experience, but we still saw a lot there  and enjoyed it very much.  The food was a highlight there too! The service was not at the level of &Beyond, but the staff could not have been warmer or more accommodating, so we have no complaints.

We had an incredible experience and are encouraging all our friends to go on safari for honeymoon or otherwise!

Cape Town is now probably our favorite international city!  We already cannot wait to get back there and spend more time exploring up and down the cape peninsula.  The tour guide John was so knowledgeable and very easy to talk to.  I feel like he taught us a lot and also gave us our space to venture on our own.  He’s a pro and would definitely hire him again! The only miss in Cape Town was the Tree House Hotel which was not our favorite.  We did like the boutique aspect and were comfortable not spending exorbitantly on lodging there since we were out and about so much, but the service level was on the lower end unfortunately.  Our thinking here is that it was probably just an unusual time due to Covid and they were very understaffed since the hotel was nearly empty.  So, likely staff were doing multiple jobs that they’re not accustomed to doing during normal times.

La Fontaine Boutique Hotel in Franschhoek was pretty spectacular!  And the staff was wonderful.  Definitely recommend it to anyone. We could not get over the gorgeous views of the rolling hills and vineyard after vineyard.  We especially loved spending the afternoon at Babylonstoren, dinner at Delaire Graff, and the spectacular estate and wines at Anthonj Rupert (we bought some of those wines to bring home).

The wine country definitely beats our Napa Valley, no question!

Think that about covers it.  Thank you again for preparing such a wonderful honeymoon for us.  We hope that American tourism to Africa keeps picking up and that you’re able to get back to business.

Thanks again!!!
