X-Factors of Camp Shawu
- Very affordable
- Spacious, luxurious suites
- Wonderful views over the Mpanamana Dam
- Walking trails in the Kruger National Park
- Big Five game sightings
A unique feature of Camp Shawu is the safari lodge’s authentic buffalo dung walls, which add to the ambience and create a rustic feel to the camp. The five incredibly spacious rooms at Camp Shawu are far from rustic though – all are luxuriously furnished, feature romantic ball and claw baths, a sitting area warmed by an open fireplace, ceiling fans and an open air shower.
The private verandahs fronting the rooms are furnished with reclining chairs and an umbrella, creating an idyllic spot from which to watch the game come down to drink from the Mpanamana Dam fronting the lodge.
Leisure spaces at Camp Shawu include a large lounge, indoor and outdoor dining areas and a splash pool. Camp Shawu specialise in walking trails through the Kruger National Park, on which guests can experience a typical old-fashioned safari first-hand. Game drives in 4x4 vehicles are another option.
Lise's thoughts: Incredible value for money! if your pockets aren't deep, but you want the traditional safari experience and 4 star accommodation then Camp Shawu is your best option. Great for couples and groups of friends. Not great for smaller children because of the wooden walkways. Book early as this is a very popular lodge.
